How can I keep my dog from biting?
We had our 11wk old puppy 3 weeks now and it goes very well potty training, sitting, fixing, etc., but our problem now is that he likes to bite! I was tapping his nose and say "no biting, vicious dog" very strong, which seems to be a game to him! or he just barks at us when we do that, I do not want to always be yelling at him to bite, but those puppy teeth hurt and some of our friends have children I do not want him playing too rough with it! A council??
When playing with your puppy his siblings and his mother, she used her mouth. When she plays with you, she will probably need to use her mouth until you give learn not to. Most puppies will not hurt you, but these teeth are very sharp puppy and you do not have fur to protect your skin, as his comrades had canine. Your puppy is motivated by mouth and not bite because she wants to hurt you, but because she thinks you have to play After all, it works with other dogs! I will propose two effective ways to teach your puppy not to mouth and bite. First, use the same method we have just spoken to stop jumping. If your dog bites you, say "Ouch!" Then get up and ignore it. If she jumps, she is ignoring you can teach him not to bite and not jump at the same time! If she bites the ankles and pull on your pants, leave the room, not account until it calms down, then come back and sit with her, playing softly, and try the second method. On the other hand, give your puppy something else to put in his mouth over your hand. When you pet or play with her and she takes your hand in its mouth, gently offers her a chew toy and continue to stroke. She will learn that hands are not for chewing, but they are perfect for ear scratches and rubs belly. If she insists on putting in your mouth instead of biting the toy back on a number of methods. A word on the tired puppies: Puppies are like young children. Sometimes we are so tired that it's completely out of control. They are not smart enough to go to bed, so they continue to play and get sillier and sillier fatigue. If your puppy has been out of play for a while and is becoming increasingly out of control, put her in her crate, give him a treat and let it rest. Very often, a tired puppy will protest for, oh, two minutes and then fall asleep. If you encounter a problem with putting in the mouth and chew, make – make sure that nobody plays tug-of-war or other violent games with your puppy. The last thing you want to do is to encourage your puppy to grab things or compete with people for possession of things. Teach him instead of giving toys that you can then throw it to recover. The rule of non-Roughhousing applies especially to children. Interaction between children and puppies should always be supervised by an adult official who is close enough to intervene immediately if the game is overwhelming. Do not expect a child under 12 or 13 to be able to apply one of the training methods I have outlined. An adult needs to be able to help. Children tend to PIN respond to strident, pushing the puppy away, and generally acting excited. Your puppy will think that the child is playing and will probably continue to jumping and biting. The child will be more excited, things will soon get out of hand and someone could end up hurt, scared, or both.
