Brushing and combing can be an enjoyable experience for you and your dog. It gives you a chance to interact in a non-threatening manner and not disruptive. This personal touch helps you and your dog to bond with each other. This will be useful when you are training your dog.
Use a soft toothbrush that is designed for your type of dog. Thick, long-haired dogs need a brush bristles stronger entering fur, while dogs with thin hair and fine are better with a soft brush. Be careful when brushing the fine-haired dogs as heavy brush can scratch the dog's skin and make it sensitive and irritated.
It is better to brush your dog every day for about 20 minutes each time. How much time will be determined by the type of hair your dog has. However, other breeds may take up to 30 minutes if the hair is long enough and tends to mat easily.
