Dog Hot Spots Home Remedies
My dog Rufus seems to have a "hot spot" near her home remedies for tail.Any until I can get him to a vet? HELP
It is believed to chew, so I use the cone, but I try to find something to at least alleviate, or at most cure it. I do not want to irritate the skin further. Any advice greatly appreciated. I already took him to my vet to try to get to my bill, but no go if I need help until next week.
the best thing you can do to a hot spot is to keep the area as dry as possible. also some NEOSPORIN isn't a bad idea either. if you havent already its not a bad idea to shave the hair from the area (when you get to the vet, they'll probably even do) fur traps in moisture and makes it even worse, especially if it is a long haired dog. other than that there isn't really something you can do at home. a little hydrocortisone cream would help with the itching, but it probably isn't a good idea if he can reach to let it swallow. there are sprays you can buy (not sure if it is only on prescription or nonprescription) that help soothe and heal it at the same time. check and see if Petsmart have something like that. Gentocin spray is the best thing but may be Rx only, not sure though. Good luck and please send me an email with any further questions until you to the vet
